Eye Catching Lightning Colors and Special Lighting Effects
A show-car quality drift car that should never be crashed!
Dressed up in a color called “Super Thunder Gold”, this flashy S13 has custom lighting on both its interior and exterior. Work was performed by G-Corporation. Originally developed for time attack, it is a remarkably lightweight machine coming in at only 950kg at its lightest weight.
Now converted to drift specification, excessive weight reduction is not totally desireable, so the fuel tank was returned to normal among other things. Even with roll cage installed, it comes in just around 1020kg.
It is powered by an SR 2.1L spec engine using HKS 87φ piston. When converting from time attack spec to drift spec, the exhaust manifold was modified to favor torque. However, the output is still marked at 430ps.
The intercooler has an intermediate layout. Although a full-on wire tuck has not been done, the engine bay has been cleanly organized without wiring in full view.
RG takes care of the suspension which is a special short harmonic low-down spec. Wheels are 19-inch Work Varianza T1S, harmonizing with the flashy paintwork. All aero parts are G-Corporation. Widebody conversion may also be in the works for this car down the road.
There is high impact in the paintwork’s visual appeal. The lightning pattern on “Super Thunder Gold” was airbrushed by hand.
A tough point here is that with such precision paintwork, this lightning pattern overlaps onto different panels. All the flake and metallic paint make paint matching and line matching a tedious task. In other words, even a small crash would require this car to be fully repainted to return to perfection.
The lighting inside and out is fully custom. Three-unit projectors in the headlights are procressed with blue CCFL tubes, blue projectors and embedded strobes. The side marker is a custom combination of Audi-style small LED and red turn signal.
The taillamps are one-off custom LED arrangements. LEDs are also installed in the wheels for visual impact.
The instrument panel has been converted as well to full LED spec. Because even the needles are processed, the brightness is surprising. The defi guages installed on the center panel have been modified with color changes; pink, green, violet, and orange.
All things considered, this could be a car to take awards in a dress-up contest. Yet, it’s purpose is ripping up the circuit and going sideways in style. Add to that, the car has a different look as day changes to night. The risk of crash is quite high, but Mr. Nakamura, a representative from G-Corporation says, “The killer looks make the risk worth it.”
