A Contender to Battle Rotary and VTEC

 

Equipped with a Fully Tuned 2.3L Putting Out 300ps!

 

“We want to challenge the limits of street legal tuning cars” say tuners Car Garage JupiterNet. They present this NC Roadster demo car as a prime example of a street tuned battle machine.

With an intricately laid-out rollbar that stabilizes the car in twists and turns, and a 1840mm wide footprint, there’s no doubt this is a serious full-on tuning car. However, with equipment for comfort like air conditioning and power steering, it still holds onto its roadgoing sensibility.

The engine is an impressive 2.3L with ITBs. The block uses a 2.3L L3 and pistons are 0.5mm oversize Super Tech forged. The connecting rods are forged H sections by Eagle. A special oil pump was ordered from Toda Racing.

Its a high rotation unit with split S-VT (variable valve timing) less specification. The cam is made one-off. Working angle is IN296 / EX288 and lift is 13.0mm. It incorporates big valves with double spring spec reinforced valve springs.

 

When tested it output over 300ps, surpassing the 2.4L spec of VTEC and side port specification of NA rotary.

The suspension incorporates mainly Koni parts and has the aim of quick lapping Suzuka Circuit on wide S-tires.

Another notable feature of the suspension are short stroke shocks to increase stability at the rear. The aim here is to reduce rebound stroke and apply traction as much as possible. Spring rates are F18kg/mm and R16kg/mm.

Up front, Wilwood forged 6pot brake calipers and larger 330mm rotors increase stopping power. In order to balance front/rear balance, rear rotors are also increased from the factory 275mm up to 305mm.

The factory soft top was removed in favor of a hard top by Garage Vary, allowing for more flexibility in roll bar layout. Affixed with pillar stops and gusset reinforcement, high rigidity is achieved.

Good-win Racing overfenders widen the base 60mm on both sides. This significantly expands wheel and tire options. Currently 245/40R17 Advan Racing A050’s are run on 9.5J Volk Racing TE37Vs. Inset is 30 at the front and 14 at the rear.

 

All things considered, we have a top spec NC Roadster that can go into battle with the strongest VTEC and NA rotary competitors. Add that to the fact that its 100% street legal.
