A Neo-classic with Solex, headers and dual exhaust!
RB25DE-based high comp unit with throttle bodies!
Among R31 Skylines, the 4-door GT Passage is perhaps not the most popular base for tuning, but we definitely have a fine example here before us.
This 7th generation Skyline was the first model equipped with the RB engine, but this particular model has been swapped to an NEO (RB25DE) with variable valve timing. Oversize pistons and 1.2mm metal gasket were incorporated to increase compression ratio to about 11.5:1. Then RB26DETT throttles were introduced.
TS Factory, who did tuning work on this car created an original adapter to accomodate the RB26DETT throttles. During installation, the water line needs to be diverted. However, when the TS Factory adapter is purchased, installation can be done then and there.
A small Honda master cylinder was used when the clutch master occupied engine bay space. A lot of ideas and know-how have been put into details like this.
The radiator is an original by R31 House. Though parts for any old car are getting harder and harder to get, the expertise and knowledge that R31 House has makes part hunting for this chassis easy.
The exhaust tuning is also unique. The manifold is made to 6-2 spec, laid out from front to end with 50φ full dual. The highly tuned NA RB25 in this setup is ideal for swapping to an old car because it runs smoothly without issues.
Ride height is lowered on JIC suspension. The balance of tire to fender is considered carefully. The car sits comfortably but still manages to look aggressive. Wheels are 15-inch Hoshino Impul, 9J -7 at the front and 9J -20 at the rear. Exterior is kept simple and lets the low ride height and wheel setup do the talking.
Headlights are HID for comfortable and safe night driving. The HID beam through the cut lens blends newness and nostalgia in a subtle way.
