「A Miracle One-Owner FC3S Appears!」Subtle and Refined Tuning In a Deceptively Simple Yet Stunning Package [W-Option JAMBOREE]
An Elegant Widebody Form Thanks to One-Off Fenders!
Side Port with GTX3576R Turbo Pushing 450ps!
Mr. Kataoka’s FC3S is so clean you’d never believe it was registed in 1989. There were times it was stored away and not driven, but he bought the car brand new and has kept it under watchful eye since.
5 years ago, full restoration on the car was done to bring it up to date. Everything from the body to the engine was fully revived. At that time, Mr. Kataoka wanted a “Beautiful yet natural looking style that would garner appreciation even among generations who did not know the FC”.
Foresight and RE Amemiya aero parts make up the exterior. The widebody fenders are one-off originals based on those by Foresight. They add 30mm width to each side to the front and 35mm at the rear.
The exterior also has modernized updates like original LED tail lamps, Ganador LED Aero Mirrors and ERC’s high-mount stop lamp rear wing.
The quad headlights and wide fender lines give a sporty impact. These fixed-type round quad headlights are also one-off original pieces.
Wheels are Work VS in 18-inch sizing. 9J widths are at the front while the rears are 11J. Grip comes from Pirelli P-Zero tires in 235/35 and 285/30. Cusco Street Zero A suspension is in place, a perfect fit for this car which is used mainly for city driving and highway cruising. The brake calipers which are visible between the spokes are genuine BNR32 Brembos.
The engine has been tuned in the past, as the car was driven in drag races. A low-comp spec engine combines the rotor housing from an FD3S with the rotor from an early model FC. Other work includes reinforced apex seals, full balancing and WPC customization.
Here the GTX3576 Turbo is docked, controlled by Haltech (Full computer) reaching max boost of 1.4kg at 450ps.
On the rear glass, there’s a BABYMETAL sticker casually affixed. Some might think its a strange choice given this cars tuning sensibility, but its an interesting match.
The seats are Alcantara reupholstered Recaro SRII. The owner has had the BABYMETAL logo embroidered here, creating one-of-a-kind seats. He must be a pretty big fan, then. Seat harnesses are Willans 4-point.
Mr. Kataoka tell us, “My favorite part is the front end!” He is considering a 3-rotor NA swap. “Mainly, I use this car around town but I want it to be a grand tourer. I’ve already got a 3-rotor engine on deck!” These days, we don’t see many FC3S so we are looking forward to the evolution of this very clean example.
