Removing the front driveshaft results in an Attessa controlled 100% FR specification.
New geometry results in super deep steering angle!
Mr. Kataoka, an active drifter and representative of Kuhl Racing spearheads this FR modified R35 GT-R project. The black vehicle seen here is a test demo car (Codename 906) which is being developed thanks to a crowdfunding operation.
The R35 GT-R is equipped with Nissan’s proprietary Attessa E-TS system. With torque distribution settings to the front and rear, the controller can achieve an FR setup. However, Mr. Kataoka also needed maximum steering angle to create a fully-fledged drift car.
The front driveshaft was removed and a one-off cover was attached to the driveshaft connection on the transmission side, forcibly converting the car to FR. Customized knuckles and longer tie rods greatly increase the turning angle.
The suspension choice is a DG-5 which is a popular setup for drift spec cars. Spring rate is 18kg/mm at the front and 16kg/mm at the rear with standard settings. The brake system remains factory including the pads. LSD is a Nismo 2-way.
Engine is equipped with a Blitz high flow turbo. Fuel system is strengthened with a 900cc injector and reinforced pump. Output increases to 750ps with max boost pressure of 1.6kg.
The exterior also gets some tuning parts, including the new Kuhl Racing 35R-GTII aero kit. Two types of vertical fin designs in the bumper can be selected. Intercooler and DCT cooler are exposed for a sporty look.
The impact of the rear matches that of the front. There is an upper and lower 2 piece diffuser. The quad muffler can handle up to 1000ps.
The wheels are a 10-spoke design called the KVC02 which are part of Kuhl Racing’s VERZ lineup of sports wheels. Sizing is F10.5J +33, R11J +5 in 20 inch diameter. Tires are Goodyear 255/40 up front and Nitto NT555 275/35 at the rear.
On the interior are BRIDE Stradia II seats and a Kuhl Racing steering wheel. Even with the front drive shaft removed, the Attessa Controller DAS is necessary to achieve full RWD.
Kuhl Racing will continue development on this system, testing for durability and other factors. Continuing to produce aero and racing parts as well, we look forward to their progress in all fields of development.
