Kuhl Racing gained recognition for their 3D painting and engraving techniques which won awards in various contests. One R35 GT-R they produced won the Grand Prix at Tokyo International Custom Car Contest in 2015 using these techniques. Kuhl then launched the 35R-GTII full bumper aero kit seen here at Tokyo Auto Salon 2020.
The vehicle has been painted with an elaborate graphic in ghost pearl, continuing Kuhl’s strong commitment to exterior finish. The painter is Mr. Izawa of ROHAN, who used a special paint that appears blue when the transparent white pearl is illuminated. The subtle graphics are painted in deeper layers beneath.
The 35R-GTII kit is a full carbon kit with the exception of the bumpers. Wide fenders are smoothed to form an overfender shape that keep a sense of unity with the body.
「Because we have put an emphasis on cooling, it in fact provides great air flow to cool the engine during highway speeds」it was said. The front bumper has a large opening and effectively sends air to the intercooler core and oil cooler core. The fine carbon parts have been designed to be easily detached when desired.
As with the diffuser, the bumper also has canards on the sides. Aerodynamics can be controlled according to the driving stage.
Both front and rear are finished in a bold design. The rear bumper helps control flow of the air at high speeds. The under-diffuser has a complex shape sweeping upward and creating a rear view with a strong impact.
A new design middle mount wing has been developed in line with this aero kit. Drawing inspiration from the swan neck type design from Super GT wings, the wing end plates have also been redesigned and it has a look that blends seamlessly with the aero kit.
These wheels are VERZ-KRONE KR02, a two-piece model that debut here at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon. They are cut from billet and create a bold concave design.
“We’ve designed each R35 GT-R kit so far with a complete look in mind that further accents the design of the original car. However, we’ve gotten requests to create something more flashy and sporty. Taking that into account, we merged that image with a cooling aspect for high-speed driving and arrived at this design. This is the fourth kit for the R35 we’ve produced and was made with utmost quality in mind” says representative Mr. Kataoka.
The presence of this car is certainly unique and impactful. R35 GT-R owners and fans are sure to be drooling over this kit.
