75mm added width on each side gives big impact!
Racing style bonnet and GT style wing give the feeling of a real GT machine!
This is a race dedicated Lexus RC, the “RC F GT3” from Kazama Auto. Mr. Kazama himself fell in love with the design of the car and arranged and produced this body kit as a competition style street machine. The body kit was debuted at Tokyo Auto Salon 2020.
The highlight of this kit are the complex shaped front and rear fenders. Kazama Auto have injected a racing spirit to the design without spoiling the stylish lines of the RC. They’ve succeeded in building an original widebody silhouette for this car.
The full kit consists of seven parts: Front lip spoiler, side skirts, front fenders and bumper cover, rear fenders, rear center diffuser and rear side diffusers.
Originally this designed was planned to increase width on each side by 80mm, giving it a total width of 1840mm. It was found these were a bit ambitious to be mounted on the car so it was slightly reduced to a more balanced 75mm on each side. This allowed the width to fit between the door mirror limits and provided better visual balance. The bonnet, similar to the GT machine, has large ducts on both sides.
When designing the fenders, respect was given to the Pro Mode SS Series that had been employed on other models. Behind the tires has an intricate cut shape with fins. The wing shaped fender ends at the rear shout racing pedigree.
The rear fenders protrude greatly from the body to balance with the fronts. The shape of the fin has been extended to the tail while taking care not to break the flow of the body line. The rear quarter has a shape which incorporates two large fins.
A drift spec car with the same aero kit was also displayed at the RAYS booth at Tokyo Auto Salon. This is the new machine which will be launched in 2020 and driven by Andrew Gray who won the Formula Drift Japan Series Championship.
Because this is a competition only model, graphics are applied and the lower part of the grille is cut to effectively direct more air to the intercooler core. Even though it is the same kit as described above, the overall presence is quite different.
Although the bonnet and rear wing are still in final prototyping stages, they will be released for sale at a later date. The rest of the kit including the front lip spoiler, side skirts, front fender and bumper cover, rear fender, rear center diffuser and rear side diffusers are now already on sale. The price is around 700,000yen plus tax for FRP and 850,000 plus tax for CRFP.
