It laps Tsukuba in one minute flat!
A DIY tuner with surprisingly high level spec and power
This RNN14 Pulsar fitted with aggressive aero and blister fenders has quite a presence. The owner who bought it around 2000, did DIY tuning work in his own garage.
The exterior is totally do-it-yourself. The aggressive front section has a modified C-WEST front bumper for GDB with a under lip spoiler. The side skirts, door panels and bonnet are all FRP one-off originals by the owner. Carbon aero pieces are attached to ensure strength.
The SR20DET engine was reinforced with forged pistons and power is boosted to 400ps by incorporating a GT-RS turbo and 260 degree high cam. Engine control is performed by an HKS F-CON V Pro.
The radiator has been relocated to the rear to improve weight distribution. The fresh air taken in through the side ducts passes directly through the horizontal mount radiator and out the bottom of the car. As a result, cooling is ample enough to achieve stable performance on continuous laps at the circuit even during summer months.
The fueling port got in the way of widening work and was relocated to the roof. Therefore, the fuel piping passes through the interior.
A jungle-gym-like rollcage and large number of additional gauges are on the interior. Even though it can run on the street, the spec feels 100% race car.
The hubs were converted to 5-lug and 17×9.5J Advan Racing RGII were installed. Brakes are armed with a Project Mu caliper kit.
Although this Pulsar is a daily driver, it becomes a weekend warrior for the circuit that can lap Tsukuba in 1 minute flat. It is a high level tuning machine that exudes the soul of its owner throughout. (Excerpt from March 2011 issue of OPTION2 Magazine)
