The ability of the prancing horse is top-class even on the dragstrip?!
The 458 Italia’s full potential is unleased on the 400m straight course!
The owner usually takes part in the professional GT-R class (GT-R one-make only for R32, R33, R34 & R35) with his fully tuned BNR34. However, his prized Skylines recent upgrades were not completed in time for this drag racing festival. What he brought instead was this “Crimson Horse” Ferrari 458 Italia.
The 458 Italia debuted in 2009 as a new generation V8 midship sports model. By using aluminum material from the body to the chassis, the weight was kept to an impressive 1380kg.
The engine is a 4.5L V8 producing 570ps / 55.1kgm that is capable of 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds. The transmission is a 7-speed DCT that enables lighting fast shift changes.
Tuning for this car is a light specification, with the exhaust being upgraded to a power craft system. The tires are Hooser DOT radial drag tires.
For acceleration attacks, the traction control function is cancelled by a switch on the steering wheel. The challenge is to measure time while eliminating the intervention of electronically controlled assist devices as much as possible.
Because it is a 2-pedal MT specification with stable performance abilities, the car was expected to perform very well in the 12-second class (disqualified if the time is less than 12 seconds) but it clocked an 11 second 769 time exceeding expectations.
Although the run ended in the form of a disqualification, the 11-second range for an almost factory car is impressive. It wowed the crowd who were in awe of the full throttle Ferrari sound. It brought moments of excitement to this drag event.
