A long-awaited arrival in SSR’s popular wheel series!
A highly rigid and lightweight sports wheel at a reasonable price
SSR’s GTX series achieves performance comparable to forged wheels by using their FFT-R manufacturing method. The GTX04 debuts this spring as the latest in this series. Developed with strict attention to lightness, it has acheieved the mark of lightest in the series.
The design is a split 6-spoke design with excellent stress dispersibility. This special design balances high rigidity with slim spokes for a strong yet featherweight composition.
Not only are the spokes slim, but they are hollowed out on the rear. Forging the surface behind the spokes ensures rigdity and allows the cross-sectional area to be reduced by 13%.
The spokes have ribs added at the outside near the rim flange, maximizing rigidity. There are three types of faces available: semi-concave, concave and super-concave.
Everything has been done to shave weight including reducing the thickness at the hub. The centercap is optional. The center section of the wheel has also been reduced in diameter making it lighter and visually emphasizing the long spoke lengths.
“We really pushed to emphasize lightness and made precise shaping of the spokes to pursue that. The weight of course depends on the wheel size but the 18-inch 10.5J +15 size of the GTX 01 model weighs 10.72kg. By comparison the same size weighs only 8.95kg in this model. It goes without saying that strength and rigidity are as high as ever and the wheel can be used safely in time attack and drift,” says Mr. Doi of Tanabe’s marketing department.
The latest model GTX is sure to be a top pick among tuners with its lightweight sports design. The delicate sculptural beauty of the thin sharp spoked wheel has strong visual presence whether in motion or at rest.
18-inch：7.5J (401000 Yen) ～10.5J (501000 Yen)
19-inch：8.5J (409000 Yen) ～10.5J (503000 Yen)
